You Guys! We Got Reviewed!

Or, erm, pre-reviewed?

Anyway, you can read it here

This has been a rough week for the show in a few ways (a serious illness, injuries, automotive shenanigans), so it’s heartening to see such a thoughtful and positive first look from of our local theater critics!

About asher

Me in a nutshell: Standard uptight ballet boy. Trapeze junkie. Half-baked choreographer. Budding researcher. Transit cyclist. Terrible homemaker. Getting along pretty well with bipolar disorder. Fabulous. Married to a very patient man. Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2015). Proto-foodie, but lazy about it. Cat owner ... or, should I say, cat own-ee? ... dog lover. Equestrian.

  1. Great!

I had a show end of the last month, but it was more the typical dance school internal show for friends and relatives. Next time the owner will try to get a bigger hall since she was sold out after short time.

I did the only ballet of the show, as a solo – since it’s more a jazz/modern school and the ballet classes refused to act.
I had Intro(solo) and conferencing through the show. The ballet part of the intro was more a kind of ice lake instead of swan lake because of the floor 😦 .

But keep the mood up, the review is great.

    PS:
I checked your dance school – I have been 180 miles from your town, 2 years ago, due to a business trip. Don’t know if I get there, again.

    • “Ice Lake” sounds, um, exciting 😀 Nothing like a slippery floor to keep you alert!

My ballet school’s showcase had roughly the opposite problem—among the open division classes, only the ballet students wanted to perform! (At least our floor wasn’t slippery.) The pre-pro students’ modern and flamenco classes were in the same performance, though, so that was cool.

“Orpheus” is on my home turf (well, at least for circus arts), but only about a quarter of the cast trains at Suspend. I’m not sure if very many of our students auditioned, though.

The funny thing is that I know one of the girls from Louisville Ballet—we take class together. She and I run into each-other everywhere, though—the dance and cirque communities here are tiny! 😀

If you do ever make it out this way, let me know!

  2. The reviews sounds great. I wish I could see the performance, but I am too far away.

    • Thanks! I hope we live up to it! (And crossing an entire ocean and half a continent is definitely a bit far to travel for a show that’s just over an hour long :D)

  3. I second that! I would also love to train at your studio!
